The company performs regularly throughout the season at the Grand Hall of the Palace of Fine Arts . It dates back to 1881, which makes it the second oldest symphony orchestra in North America. The Boston Symphony is the officially recognized oldest orchestra company. The Mexico City Philharmonic is another one of the city’s great orchestras and it performs at the Sala Ollin Yoliztli. It was founded in 1978 under the guidance and support of the Government of Mexico. It has been extremely active and has recorded many performances. Most of these are by Mexican composers and some of the recordings have won prestigious awards.
