Washington Square Park is perhaps the second most popular public park in Manhattan, though it is frequently considered to be a find for tourists when they visit the city. It is almost ten acres of land and it is located in the southern neighborhood of Greenwich Viallge. Many of the buildings in this park are owned by New York University , who is also responsible for much of their construction. Graduation ceremonies for the university take place in the park. As is true for most of the parks in New York there are numerous statues in it that represent significant figures from history. George Washington is, appropriately, one of the central statues in this park.
