Whenever people think of visiting large cities they think of the major cultural attractions and entertainment options that are associated with it. And while this is true almost everywhere, including Cincinnati, it is also true that some of the greatest fun you can have while you are on vacation will take place outdoors and involve nature and some kind of recreational event. And I bet that’s not the first thing you think when you imagine a trip to Cincinnati. However, the city is located right on the Ohio River and that must indicate there are opportunities for associated recreational activities in the near distance.
Spending a weekend fishing and camping or simply taking a long hike along the river bed can be a great way to relax and also have a great time. There are plenty of opportunities for these and other activities in certain areas along the river and they provide the residents with some of their favorite ways to spend a weekend. And while the tourists who visit the city and stay in one of the luxury hotels Cincinnati are likely to want to explore some of these options, they are also likely to be interested in the dynamic cultural aspects of the city. And frequently a combination of the two elements creates a fabulous vacation.
The Cincinnati Symphony is one of the great companies in the city that is well respected and a popular attraction for tourists. The orchestra has an extremely popular pops series, which appeals to audiences of all ages. In addition there are various festivals and ongoing events that occur throughout the city that are not only fun and provide great entertainment for families and individuals. The Cincinnati Flower show happens every spring and is endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society. And one of the city’s favorite festivals is coming up this summer in July. It is the Taste of Cincinnati Jazz Festival , which has been an annual tradition since 1962.

I never would have thought of Cincinnati as having good music — let alone a jazz festival. I guess you do learn something everyday.
