If you want a different view of the San Francisco neighborhoods, there are a number of strange and interesting tours that you can take that will give you a new view on the city. One of the best known unusual tours of the city is Mr. Toad’s Tours . Part of why they are so well known, besides being able to do things that few other tours can is that they are a green company. While some tourists might not care, there are a number of locals who do, and whom would not give them the recommendation without it. However, that is not why they are the best known.

The whole thing is reminiscent of an earlier time. This includes vintage tour cars that are specially made so that they can go up and down some of the largest hills in the area. One of the problems a lot of bus tours have is that the bus can not make it up these hills. This means that there are now large parts of the city that have become accessible to you. You can choose from a number of tours that take up various amounts of time.

There is the overview tour, called the “Hop Around the City Tour”. It gives a good ninety minute tour around the whole city. You will get a glance of all the major areas, and give yourself a better idea of what places you would like to explore further. You can add to that tour a trip to Alcatraz , which makes it take quite a bit longer, but it well worth it. There are a number of movie locations and other sites that you will recognize. If you want something a little more in depth take the “Post Card Tour” which will stop to let you take pictures to send back home. Let people know you are missing them while you have some fun.

When you are done with all the fun go back to one of the San Francisco Bay hotels and wait for night fall when they have their final tour of the night. “San Francisco by Night” is a tour that will let you see all the best sites of the city in the night time, and there are a lot of great sites with a lot of great lights. They take into consideration once again which areas are best for photographs, so don’t be afraid to snap a few shots while you are out and about.

Last time I was in San Francisco was for my cousin’s wedding, and I remember my cousin saying that some of the larger vehicles can’t go up the steeper hills. I had never though of that as being a problem for tours, but it is interesting to hear what this company’s solution was, because it makes sense that sort of thing would be hard.
