Not so long ago the place for businesses to be was the web. Every company, from large conglomerate to mom and pop corner stores rushed to build a website to reach customers. That was quickly followed by social media sites . A company, celebrity, or organization without a Facebook page or Twitter account was missing out on opportunities to engage with existing customers and build new fans.
Now the rage is iPhone apps. Android apps. Ipad apps. Apps for every type of handheld device.
For those who aren’t smart phone savvy, “apps” is short for applications. Much like the software that runs on your computer to allow you to accomplish everything from video editing to word processing to balancing your budget, apps run on your phones, tablets, and other handheld computer devices.
These apps allows phone users to interact with a company in new and inventive ways. The phrase “there’s an app for that” is quickly overtaking “can you hear me now” in modern conversation. And where there’s apps there are are computer geeks behind the scenes designing, upgrading, and tweeking those apps. In fact, Android app developer is a job that didn’t even exist a few years ago and now there are large pools of developers just waiting to be hired by your company, charity, or organization to design just the right app to make your customers’ and fans’ lives easier — and more fun.
