Shopping for Wine Lovers

There’s an art to buying wine that most people don’t understand. They have a preference for white or red and they may even have a few vineyards and vintages that they know they love. That’s the extent of their knowledge. It can be very intimidating for the average person to have a wine lover on their gift list. The thought of buying an inferior wine or the wrong vintage can install enough anxiety that they give up on the idea of buying wine at all and settle for some other gift.

Giving up is a bad choice. If the desire in giving a gift is to delight a friend or family member, then it is important to give them something that they will love. And wine lovers love wine. In fact, they usually love everything about wine, and that’s where the solutions lies.

Instead of attempting to buy a bottle of wine when they don’t know one label from the next, shoppers can look for wine accessories, novelties, and even items with wine as a design element. A nice cookbook of recipes that use wine or several matching wine bottle caddies are good options. Kitchen items decorated with wine bottles or corkscrews or paintings of vineyards can also bring a smile to the face of a wine lover. And these unique gifts will stand out when everyone else is bringing them wine.

The Candy of Your Childhood

Everyone has a favorite candy that makes them think of their childhood. Maybe it’s a special candy bar that they only received on special occasions. Or it might be one of the many penny candies that they were allowed to buy with their allowance at a young age. Encountering an old time candy can quickly send them down memory lane.

Studies have shown that smell and taste are very evocative senses. The taste or smell of something is quickly associated with events and feelings from the past. This is probably a left over instinct that allowed early humans to identify foods that were safe to eat versus those that were poisonous. When applied to candy, its easy to see how the smell of bubble gum or the taste of a gumball can regress someone to childhood .

Many parents attempt to replicate those memories for their own children. They intentionally seek out the same candies that they loved in order to share them with their kids. In some cases, the companies may have been sold or renamed, making it difficult to track them down. However, most candies from thirty, forty, even fifty years ago are still around in some form or other. That means that the childhood memories associated with specific candies can be shared through multiple generations.

Part of the American Dream is the notion that one can turn a passion into a career. Instead of having to dread going to work, people can take an activity or other interest that they love and find a way to make a living around it. That way they can look forward with eager anticipation to each day’s work.

For many people the thing that they love most is golf. It may seem that the only way to make money around golf is to become a professional athlete, but that’s not true. Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer aren’t the only people who have created golf careers for themselves, they’re just a few of the most famous ones. In fact, there are thousands upon thousands of jobs available for golf lovers — and there are even golf degrees for those who are serious about preparing for a successful career.

The average golf program will focus jointly on golf skills and management. Degrees prepare students to become golf professionals, such as coaches, teachers, and, yes, professional players. However, they also provide the knowledge and skills necessary for students to step into management, marketing, and other positions at golf clubs, courses, and in tour organization. Graduates can become golf journalists, organize tournaments, or work for companies that develop and manufacture golf equipment and paraphernalia. The possibilities for a golf career are truly limited only by the imagination.
