Impressive Celebrity Car Collections

When you have plenty of money what better way is there to spend it than on your favorite car?  Or as in the case of Jay Leno, many cars.  He is almost as famous for his car collection as he is for his hosting job on The Tonight Show.  However, he is not the only celebrity with a passion for sleek, fast cars.  Here is a look at some others who enjoy spending their money on stylish rides.

Jerry Seinfeld

While many celebrities collect a variety of cars, Seinfeld has stuck with his one true love: Porsches.  At one point, he was said to have 46 of them, including the Porsche 959 that only had 337 made.  He owns 10 Porsche Boxsters, each of a different color.  Seinfeld has even recently designed a web series around his passion called, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”  Besides featuring his comic friends, he also features several of his Porsches.

At one point earlier in his collecting days, Seinfeld rented out an aircraft hangar for storage.  Today, those cars have their own space in his home in New York.  He also has his own mechanic to keep all of the cars in pristine running condition.  The one exception is the Porsche 959 that is not allowed on US roads because it has never had an emissions test for safety.  Porsche refused to give any of the cars to testing to be destroyed.

Ralph Lauren

The famous clothing designer has a second love besides fashion.  He enjoys rare, sporty cars and owns plenty of them.  The crown jewel in his collection is the McLaren F1LM, which is one out of only five that was manufactured.  Most of his collection is held in his home in Katonah, New York, though he has provided some to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a temporary display.  Lauren has been known to combine his love of cars and fashion by including a few of his favorite autos on the runway.

Tim Allen

America’ favorite funny man has a serious love of cars.  He is an avid collector of a wide range of autos, but perhaps what is most impressive is that he helps design cars to build race cars.  His Saleen Mustang has 500 horsepower and he also appreciates the Chevy Impala as a racecar.  Some other highlights in his collection include:

• Ferrari 365GTB
• Cadillac STS with a Northstar V-8 engine
• Mercedes-Benz 500E
• GMC Typhoon

His love of cars comes naturally since his father was a mechanic, which also means he knows about cars as much as he likes them.

Celebrities are known for spending their money on many things, but nothing is quite as impressive as a celebrity car collection.  Regular car enthusiasts can only dream about having a building filled with their favorite toys.  These celebrities make that dream come true.
