Whenever people visit most cities, there main focus is on visiting some of the main landmarks and cultural attractions that are located there. This is an obvious aspect of most trips, in addition to wanting to find great local cuisine and fabulous shopping opportunities. However, what these same people are frequently surprised to find once they’re at their destination is that some of the city’s parks and recreational facilities end up being one of their favorite aspects of the trip. And when visiting an amazing city like Melbourne, Australia, this is most definitely the case. Some of the great hotels in Melbourne are either located next to a beautiful park, or within range of one and are able to provide great views from their balcony windows.

The Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia is one of the city’s most beautiful designated areas and they are a point of pride with the residents as well as major fascination and draw for tourists. A trip to Melbourne is not considered to be complete without paying a visit to the gorgeously landscaped lawns of Carlton Gardens . The gardens are located on the northern edge of the Central Business District.

The gardens are recognized as being one of the city’s outstanding examples of Victorian landscape designs. Numerous trees line the sweeping lawns and examples of elms, cedars, White Poplar and English oaks can be found there among many other beautiful trees. The southern section of this park includes two small ornamental lakes and the northern area has a museum, tennis courts and a children’s playground, which happens to be designed as a Victorian maze. The entire park exits on a 26 hectare plot, which translates as 64 acres of land. The Royal Exhibition Building is one of the main attractions in the park. It was completed in 1880 and is listed as one of the World Heritage Sites. The original intention of its construction was to host the 1880-81 Melbourne International Exhibition.
